So yeah I know I am a week late but give a guy a break, I only started this blog today!!! It will probably become clear that when it comes to Arctic Monkeys I am a loyal, loyal follower. These guys can't really do much wrong in my eyes. They have just completed a tour of Oz, playing what seems to literally be the hottest festival in the form of the Big Day Out and debuted some new material that some of us have been waiting for for about a year! There have been live performances of four new songs possibly bookmarked for the new album and a cover of Nick Cave's 'Red Right Hand'. Seems like Mr Turner is still on form with the lyrics, unsuprisingly taking a lot of influence from Miles Kane (The Rascals, The Last Shadow Puppets) as they are a bit more abstract and follow suit of some of the TLSP's B-sides such as 'Gas Dance'. So with 'Go-Kart', 'Pretty Visitors', 'Dangerous Animals' and my favourite 'Crying Lightning' circling the web its your chance to sample some of the fruits that have come from the desert sessions that AM had with the Josh Homme of QOTSA at the Joshua Tree. According to Alex Turner the album is "78% done, I have been working in fractions actually - two thirds. I'm thrilled with it." So rumour has it that we can expect something out in the summer - with a possibility of a few UK festival performances, lets hope so!
So here is a video of 'Crying Lightning' from the Sydney leg of BDO apologies for the quietness of the video and with it only being in mono but just crank up the volume and give it a listen if you haven't heard it already, it is so so worth the listen!
